Before you begin, please read through the disclosure statement below. When finished, click on the Start button below to register your new account.

  2. The cost of the on-line debtor education is:
    • $9.95 for Reading-based Online Debtor Education Course
    • $16.95 for Video-based Online Debtor Education Course
    • $19.95 for Video-based Online Debtor Education Course, including an E-book, "Rebuilding Your Credit After Bankruptcy"
  3. Summit Financial Education offers the following optional services and products:
    • Express Certificate Service - $1.99
    • Rebuild Your Credit E-Book - $9.99 (free with $19.95 course level)
  4. Fee Waivers: Upon evaluation of supporting documentation, Summit Financial Education, Inc. will waive the fee for obtaining a Certificate of Debtor Education for any individual whose annual household income falls below 150 percent of the poverty guidelines as last published by the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) (https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines) for their applicable household size. The income of a spouse is included in calculating income whether or not a joint petition is filed, unless the spouses are separated and a joint petition is not filed.
    • Fee Waivers entitle the recipient to complete the reading-based on-line course, or an equivalent discount from a higher-priced course service.
    • A Fee Waiver can be requested following registration, using the displayed instructions.
  5. The services being provided to you are:
    1. You will have access to an online personal financial management instructional course approved by the Executive Office of the United States Trustees to meet the requirements of the bankruptcy law. Summit Financial Education is approved to issue certificates evidencing completion of personal financial management instructional course in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code. Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of a Provider's services.
    2. Upon your completion of the course Summit Financial Education is obligated to issue your Certificate of Debtor Education promptly, barring technical difficulties, such as the unavailability of the EOUST's Certificate Generating System.
    3. Certificates of Debtor Education are normally issued within 2 hours of course completion. Express Certificate Service, providing an immediate certificate following course completion, is available for $1.99.
    4. You will receive a Certificate of Debtor Education only if you complete the debtor education course.
    5. Your Certificate of Debtor Education will be available to you from your online account that you create during registration.
    6. Your Certificate of Debtor Education will be emailed to you at the email address you provide during registration.
    7. Your Certificate of Debtor Education will be emailed to your attorney at the email address you provide during registration.
  6. For people with limited English proficiency Summit Financial Education will provide assistance in identifying an EOUST-approved provider that can assist in the appropriate language.
  7. The following are NOT the responsibility of Summit Financial Education and are NOT part of the services being provided to you:
    1. Ensuring that the emailed Certificate of Debtor Education reaches you. We have no control over whether the email address you provide is correct or whether a junk mail filter blocks our email. Please get your Certificate from your online account on our website.
    2. Ensuring that the emailed Certificate of Debtor Education reaches your attorney. We have no control over whether the email address you provide is correct or whether a junk mail filter blocks our email. Please call your attorney to make sure they have received your Certificate.
    3. Ensuring that your Certificate of Debtor Education is filed with your bankruptcy court on time. Please contact your attorney's office to make sure that this is done.
  8. The course was designed by our President, Richard H. Serlin. An MBA from the top ranked University of Michigan, Richard teaches personal finance as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Arizona. All other instructors are Certified Credit Counselors
  9. The course is offered online via the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No appointment is necessary. Course progress is saved and course can be resumed at a later time.
  10. The United States Trustee has reviewed only Summit Financial Education's credit counseling and personal financial management instructional courses. The United States Trustee has not reviewed nor approved any other services that Summit Financial Education provides to debtors.
  11. Neither Summit Financial Education, nor any of its owners or officers pays or receives fees or other consideration for the referral of debtor students to Summit Financial Education's online course. Such paid referrals are prohibited.
  12. The course does not contain any commercial advertising, and Summit Financial Education does not sell information about the debtor to any third party without the debtor's permission.
  13. Summit Financial Education might disclose debtor information to the United States Trustee in connection with the United States Trustee's oversight of Summit Financial Education, or during the investigation of complaints, during on-site visits, or during quality of service reviews.
  14. Any questions or comments will be answered within maximum one business day.
